If you remember this list, then you’d only be half-right. You will not see Shinobu or Giyu or Mitsuri or Kyojuro on this list because they were already featured on the last list, the one about the Hashira. Instead, we will be turning our attention toward the main characters like Tanjiro, Nezuko, Inosuke, Zenitsu, and a couple of others. If they were Hogwarts students, the Demon Slayer Corps, and the demons too, would find themselves placed in a specific house by the Sorting Hat, a magical hat capable of seeing the potential of students. The Sorting Hat has four houses to choose from. Though all Demon Slayers are brave and their main mission is protecting the innocent and destroying the Demon race, they would be sorted very differently among the Hogwarts houses. Even the demons, too. We’ll look at 20 of them, plus a few extras. Also: LIGHT SPOILER ALERT!

A quick rundown of what the Demon Slayers would be like in the four Hogwarts Houses:

Gryffindor: Gryffindor Demon Slayers are courageous heroes who possess the qualities of self-sacrifice, care, and strength. They are known for their leadership abilities and willingness to risk their lives to protect the innocent. They stand by the people they care about, no matter the cost, and never give up on them. Despite their high standards, they are complex individuals who may not always meet their expectations. However, they always strive to do the right thing. Their flaws define them as true heroes, both brave and conflicted. They are characterized by their bravery, courage, loyalty, daring, adventure, recklessness, intelligence, and kindness. They are fearless and face their fears head-on to do what is right. However, they can be stubborn, prideful, and short-tempered. They often break the rules, even when they are trying to do the right thing. Their bravery can be their downfall in battle, but despite this, they remain a formidable force. Most members of the DSC would be sorted into Gryffindor.

Hufflepuff: They are courageous, humble, kind, and gentle. They are fiercely loyal to the Demon Slayer Corps and their friends, treating everyone like family. Hufflepuff Demon Slayers are selfless, always putting others before themselves and caring for everyone. They are peacekeepers, mediators, and the most loyal friends one could ever have. Demon Slayers in this House are compassionate, patient, and hardworking, possessing a strong moral compass that guides them to do the right thing. While they are not renowned for their intelligence, they are still intelligent but humble about it. However, their indecisiveness, naivety, and trustfulness can sometimes lead to their demise. Tanjiro came perilously close to being sorted into Hufflepuff.

Ravenclaw: Demon Slayers who are in Ravenclaw are known for their logical, eccentric, and intelligent nature. They prefer to observe situations rather than actively participate, analyzing the scenario at hand, and working to turn it to their advantage. These individuals possess remarkable resilience, independence, curiosity, sharpness, and creativity. Despite their logical tendencies, they are also capable of kindness, as they possess a deep understanding of human empathy and emotion. Moreover, their wisdom shines through as they take the time to listen to others. It is worth noting that Ravenclaw Demon Slayers, in particular, are exceptionally talented. Ravenclaws are known for their broad range of interests and hobbies, and their exceptional abilities to excel in them. They usually approach situations logically rather than emotionally, unlike Gryffindors. However, they sometimes use their intelligence to manipulate people for their benefit, while having good intentions. They have a knack for being able to see the outcome of every situation due to their cunning nature. Although Ravenclaws can come across as cold to some, especially to demons, there are only a few demons in the series who belong to Ravenclaw.

Slytherin: Slytherin Demon Slayers are rare, although many villains would be sorted into Slytherin. They are complex individuals who possess intelligence, ambition, resourcefulness, quick-wittedness, and cunning. They rely on their passion for their strength and are determined to win, using their ambition and cunning to achieve victory over demons. While their methods may not always be the best, Slytherins achieve their goals once they set their mind to something. They are always aware of their surroundings, clever, and resourceful. Although they are loyal to the Demon Slayer Corps, they sometimes demand the same loyalty in return. Some Slytherins can be prideful, malicious, sly, shrewd, rule-breakers, sneaky, and manipulative. They get what they want, but often at the cost of stepping on, hurting, or using those around them.

1. Tanjiro Kamado: Gryffindor

Many Shonen lead characters are natural-born Gryffindors, being the type to rush into action and save the day no matter the danger. They are also brave, loyal, courageous, daring, and even reckless at times. They are heroes.

Tanjiro Kamado fits the mold. But if he wasn’t in Gryffindor, he would make for an excellent Hufflepuff. To expand on Tanjiro’s placement, I want to look at Hermione Granger’s — she could have made an excellent Ravenclaw, but I fear she would have become stagnant as an “insufferable know-it-all” if she had. Instead, the Sorting Hat gave her a unique challenge to be courageous as well as practical as she used her knowledge to become the president of S.P.E.W. (for equality of elves) and aided her friends out of many sticky situations (“Devil’s Snare, Devil’s Snare is deadly fun, but will sulk in the sun”). What this ultimately adds up to is her realizing that she doesn’t need rules to confine her, she can break them if she needs to and she can stand up for what is right. Tanjiro, I would say, has a similar mindset. He understands the importance of the rules before him, but he is more committed to curing his sister than killing her, which takes a lot of nerve, daring, and bravery. Especially since he took the path of the Demon Slayer and anyone he comes in contact with must make the same choice — kill Nezuko (and Tanjiro if needed) or allow them to live. He’s also open-minded, non-judgmental, clever, and is the voice of reason among the Trio.

But after joining the Demon Slayer Corps, something inside of him changed. Something snapped. When he first met Kibutsuji face-to-face, it instilled within him an intense fire of rage and vengeance. This side of him leaks out when Tanjiro first confronts Muzan, ready to take out his sword and attack him. When Muzan escapes, Tanjiro releases his frustration and declares he will be the one to kill Muzan. On Natagumo Mountain, when the captured Demon Slayers had their necks snapped by the Mother Spider Demon’s threads, Tanjiro shows noticeable anger that even Inosuke senses. Upon seeing Daki smirking after witnessing her slaughter three people indiscriminately with her sashes, he seethed with rage and confronted her alone. He became so consumed by rage that blood began gushing out of his eyes. This makes him a very intimidating and extremely dangerous Demon Slayer.

Tanjiro is very protective of his little sister and if someone tries to hurt her, or hurt her honor, he would get furious. This makes him really scary. He’s kind, honest, and gentle and has the unique ability to communicate with people and connect with them. And everyone who comes in contact with him is genuinely touched by his kindness and strong will, especially his comrades and civilians. Because of this, he is genuinely loved by everyone (well, almost everyone) in the Demon Slayer Corps, who took him and Nezuko in and they became his family.

He exhibits a great deal of determination and will not give up once he has a goal to achieve; the best example of this is his relentless quest to find a cure for Nezuko. Even though he is relatively strong on his own, Tanjiro isn’t opposed to asking others for help when he needs it. He was not only able to break through Kanao’s emotional walls and get her to start opening up, but he also empathizes with demons. He sees demons as victims and has been able to connect with some of them enough that they ask for forgiveness for their sins. He has a great love of family and values them even above himself. He’s protective of others and tries as hard as he can to keep them from being harmed, and even if he can become emotional during a tragedy, he’s mentally strong and able to get past it and do what needs to be done. Still, this does not mean he gets sorted into Hufflepuff; Tanjiro is, first and foremost, a Gryffindor.

2. Nezuko Kamado: Hufflepuff

Compared to other Demons, she is calm and less malicious towards humans. She still retains her original caring and protective personality towards humans she feels like family. It should be noted that Sakonji Urokodaki also influenced this trait, stating that he used hypnosis on Nezuko while in hibernation for two years. I decided to sort her into Hufflepuff, mostly because she’s kind and very loyal to her older brother and also because she protects him. She showcases her loyalty to her own humanity earlier in the seasons, quickly developing into a steady pillar for Tanjiro as they continue on the journey to turn her back to her human self.

Nezuko is very adaptable, as she quickly becomes accustomed to her new demonic abilities in a short amount of time. A clear sign of her affection is giving head pats to others. Even as a demon, she shows plenty of Hufflepuff traits, forming strong bonds with those she cares about and becoming more and more determined to protect them. Also, she is just adorable. Hufflepuff is known for their loyal students (the most notable being Cedric Diggory) so it’s no surprise that Tanjiro’s little sister would understandably be sorted into the house of yellow and black.

3. Genya Shinazugawa: Slytherin

Unlike his older brother, who is a Gryffindor, Genya is a Slytherin, a rarity in the Demon Slayer Corps. He’s a foul-mouthed, aggressive, and ill-tempered individual obsessed with nothing but killing demons; a “lone wolf” who refuses any help from others and doesn’t show any interest in being polite or having any manners. He’s sly, cunning, ambitious, shrewd, two-faced (and I mean that literally), vengeful, and resourceful. He has a me-first attitude and always keeps his eyes on the prize, no matter what. However, his personality later changes after he fights beside Tanjiro to save the Hidden Swordsmith Village. One of his greatest strengths is his ferocity, which makes him uncompromising in his missions, and he shows plenty of courage.

Sanemi’s refusal to acknowledge Genya also made him insecure as he came to realize just how weak he is compared to his companions. Nonetheless, he did whatever he could to help his allies, even if it got him maimed in the process. Despite his brother’s harsh rebukes, he bore no ill will towards him, a belief reinforced by Tanjiro and eventually by Sanemi himself. While he is a skilled gunfighter, his impulsiveness and fiery emotions often land him in conflicts with other demon slayers. While people may judge him for his brash exterior, his inner soul is much kinder and more wounded than many realize.

4. Tamayo: Ravenclaw

Having dedicated most of her life to studying the science behind Demons and Demon Transformation, Tamayo is one of the most knowledgeable people on the subject in the series. With that in mind, Tamayo is a Ravenclaw. Now, as a fellow Ravenclaw, I usually develop a soft spot for the most intelligent characters, and she was one of the first characters to catch my eye. Despite her sweet demeanor, she’s shown to be an exceptionally strong-willed, wise, astute, and intelligent woman who helps Tanjiro, Nezuko, and the rest of the Demon Slayer Corps in the fight against Muzan. And she’s also kind because she perfectly understands human emotion and empathy. She’s dedicated to her mission to help injured or sick people.

Despite being kind, caring, wise, and very smart, she has an intense hatred for Muzan and shows a more cruel and vicious persona towards him. Muzan also said that this was her original personality back when she was a human. She knows how to wield her blood demon art to manipulate people into revealing their most tightly-locked secrets. She has the unique ability to assess the situation at hand and turn it to her advantage, a very strong trait that many Ravenclaws share. Quiet and intellectual, she yearns to find a way to help humans and demons co-exist and find healing. She even finds an unusual solution to needing blood to survive as a demon; buying blood from consenting donors to survive.

5. Kanao Tsuyuri: Ravenclaw

Kanao is a Ravenclaw, like Shinobu. I have also considered Hufflepuff. She’s arguably the most introverted person in the series, but she’s also analytical and hard-working. She’s a very smart girl, being able to get to the level of the pillars in a relatively short amount of time. Kanao also has trustworthy judgment in the field, as shown when Shinobu trusted her to find a way to defeat one of the Upper Moon demons and has a unique ability to accurately assess the situation in front of her and turn to her advantage, like Tamayo. She’s gentle and lively and is one of the most expressive characters in the series — this is because she’s able to get her point across with little to no speech.

Due to her past, she doesn’t do any good during her childhood like her master said, admitting her to be so useless in making a decision and she’s always open to change. She flipped her coin, given by her older sister, to decide which fate she must foresee. But her behavior improved when she met Tanjiro Kamado, who helped her regain her human side to make her own decisions and live free without waiting for anyone to order her around. She’s energetic, sharp, intelligent, clever, dexterous, and enjoys the company of others more than she lets on.

6. Yushiro: Slytherin

Yushiro is not your average Slytherin, but a Slytherin he is. Serious and loyal, Yushiro will do whatever it takes to stay close to Tamayo and help her achieve her goals. He has a fiery personality when you think about what makes him tick. He has a knack for taking in his surroundings and responding quickly, using mind control and sight manipulation to enact sneak attacks on his foes. Unfortunately, there isn’t a wealth of information on Yushiro in the mangas or the TV series, other than his steadfast love for Tamayo. Yushiro can be quite analytical in battle scenarios. He acutely utilizes his Blindfold technique to compensate for his lack of combat proficiency. He is loyal, but it’s not Hufflepuff-type loyalty, it’s more of a… Slytherin-type loyalty.

7. Zenitsu Agatsuma: Hufflepuff

This is not the throwaway house for people who didn’t get into the other three. Rather, Hufflepuff values teamwork and cooperation, industriousness, honesty, patience, and honor. So, Zenitsu falls straight into this House, with a potential for Gryffindor. He is scared but when it comes to his friends and those he’s loyal to, he will do anything for them, something a true Hufflepuff would do. But even when he doesn’t know it, he’s very brave. He always cries and tries to run away at the sight of danger, claiming he wants to live a modest, normal life, instead of that of a Demon Slayer. He doesn’t care about being a hero. Or actually, that could be debatable if he wants to be seen as a hero to girls. He’s also kind, sweet, and loyal to his friends and the Demon Slayer Corps, whom he sees as family.

People seem to love or hate Zenitsu (I’m firmly in the “love” camp) because of his hyper-reactive, sometimes cowardly nature. That said, Zenitsu has a huge amount of empathy and care for others. While he is indeed fearful, he has often felt so alone in life and so undervalued. Even though he’s afraid he continues to fight, holding respect for his comrades and coming to their aid unexpectedly. Zenitsu would have a loving family in an ideal world and thus feel capable of the inner strength he’s always desired. However, despite these weaknesses, Zenitsu still wants to live up to the expectations others set up for him and will try his hardest when he needs to. He holds great respect and admiration towards his comrades and his deceased teacher and his inner focus and drive in avenging him help to wash away his cowardice and second thoughts when he is in a pinch at times. He’s very sensitive and fiercely dedicated although he is very anxious — and a bit of a worrier in general. Most of the time, he has issues with self-assurance, but when he pushes himself to do something, he’s going to do it. Although he is afraid of many things, he doesn’t think twice to stand up for those who are in need. In that way, no one can tell him that he’s weak. The real fearlessness is within the heart. No need to always show but all it needs is to do the right thing as Zenitsu did.

His stamina, speed, and endurance are astonishing. But he’s also creative and very smart. Why? Because, all by himself, he created his own Thunder Breathing attacks, including the most powerful of them all, Honoikazuchi No Kami.

8. Sakonji Urokodaki: Hufflepuff

Urokodaki has a lot of Ravenclaw in him, but, instead, I decided to put him into Hufflepuff. He might seem stern and demanding on the outside, but on the inside, he’s deeply caring and devoted. He knows that to train demon slayers he must test their limits and challenge them beyond their comfort zones. He gives no shortcuts to his students but he knows that this is essential for them to survive and make a difference in the world. Though he pushes his students hard, he also cares for them deeply, viewing them as akin to family, and is one of the few Demon Slayer characters to wholly trust Nezuko to never eat a human. Similarly, he wholly trusts that Tanjiro will find a way to restore her humanity.

In his letter to Kagaya, Urokodaki puts his life and the lives of his students on the line for something he believes in — Nezuko’s attachment to her family (and, under the hypnotic state, to all humans). It is important to note the difference between personal chivalry, shown most commonly by Gryffindors students, and a Hufflepuff’s chivalric behaviors. Instead of being self-serving, Hufflepuffs tend to look at the evidence before them and see how their actions will ultimately affect those around them, which is why Urokodaki puts it in writing.

9. Inosuke Hashibira: Gryffindor/Ravenclaw

Inosuke is kinda difficult to sort. I’m torn between Gryffindor, Slytherin, and Ravenclaw. He’s an extremely temperamental and proud young man who always likes to think he is the strongest fighter in a situation, constantly challenging most people he comes across and wanting others to respect and praise him for his skill. He’s the glue that holds the trio together and keeps their spirits and morale up. If he were to die, that fighting spirit would soon be gone. He’s what we call a comfort character, a person in a story in who you can find a sense of belonging, or in other words, comfort, and safety. Inosuke has a fiery personality and is ready to pick a fight with just about anyone at the beginning of the series. This is to be expected since he was raised in the wild. He acts on impulse; determined to live up to his internal views of himself as the strongest and best demon slayer of all. Fearless and strong, he’ll do anything to prove himself to others — even when it hurts. Also, he grew up in the mountains, was cut off from the outside world, and wants to learn more about it every day. I love how he grows as a character. At first, he doesn’t care for anyone then he finally finds his family in the DSC and shows emotion toward them. He’s dependable and doesn’t turn his back on others, and he doesn’t take no for an answer, even in the most difficult situations.

For Inosuke, the goal is to be recognized for his skills and abilities while simultaneously fighting the demons who killed his mother. Despite being very wild and short-tempered, he has slowly developed incredible judgment during battle, shown when he could come up with new techniques and forms on the spot. Out of the 4 houses, Inosuke would be in Gryffindor, with the potential for Ravenclaw. He might have his priorities in a bunch, but he’s brave, resourceful, determined, and daring and shows plenty of courage like any true Gryffindor would but also plenty of intelligence, curiosity, creativity, and intuition like a Ravenclaw, which he seems to have inherited from his mother. He secretly appreciates it when others care about him, even if he’s too proud of himself to show it on the outside.

10. Gyutaro (Upper Moon #6): Slytherin

Gyutaro, the true Upper Moon #6, is also a Slytherin, just like his little sister. I really liked him in the manga but the anime adaptation made me love him even more. This man is maniacal and evil to the core. His character and personality have been influenced by the life he had as a human child. However, he regards his appearance to be an opportunity to be proud of himself, because he has accomplished a lot from it. He’s always protecting Daki. He is very fond of her just like her love for him. Gyutaro has cared for her throughout his entire life, and because of this, she’s a true love to him. He is devoted to her regardless of the insults thrown his way. But he’ll never remain silent when he is attacked, and he’ll take action. He never finishes off his opponents, like his sister, instead, he prefers to torment them. He prefers to watch them squirm as they die, a most certainly fatal mistake that comes along with being a demon of such high prestige.

Gyutaro revealed his arrogant side by declaring Tanjiro and other people as pathetic beings with weak bodies. He shares many Slytherin traits with Daki, including being prideful, violent, ambitious, cunning, sadistic, and cruel. Also intimidating. His disregard for mortal life paired with his skills makes him highly dangerous, even as a corpse.

11. Rui (Lower Moon #5): Hufflepuff

It may come as a surprise, but Rui is actually a member of Hufflepuff. He is one of the most dangerous and terrifying enemies Tanjiro has ever faced. Rui is a demon who is extremely violent, psychotic, cruel, and evil. In fact, he sets the power-level standard for the feared Kizuki villains of the series.

Despite how you feel about his character, Rui is desperately searching for a real bond between family members, similar to that of a father sacrificing himself for his son or a sister protecting a little brother from harm. Due to the severed relationship with his real family, he decides to build a new one based on the terror that allows demons to coexist. If a family member does not live up to the role he has given them, they will be punished quite severely.

Although Rui's character is multifaceted, what intrigues me the most are his eyes. Despite being a cruel and brutal tyrant, he possesses the ability to identify the flaws in his family structure as they struggle to meet his expectations. Furthermore, he is capable of recognizing the potential of those who are loyal to him and using it to his advantage. For instance, he believed that his elder sister had the most promise in his ideal world, which explains why he only left a few scars on her face as punishment. When Tanjiro intervened, Rui was fiercely protective of their bond and demanded that he mind his own business. "What are you looking at? This isn't some show, you know...this is between me and my sister," he said.

While his idea of a family may be skewed from a human perspective, it makes perfect sense in the world of demons. Muzan Kibutsuji shares this trait of desiring a demon’s loyalty, but the two go about it in opposite mannerisms: Rui desires a dollhouse setting, while Kibutsuji has obtained the power to live as he pleases (the most feared demon leading the twelve demon moons and in his human family shield). There is cruelty present in both characters as they interact with others. Kibutsuji lashes out to see the reactions of others, while Rui inflicts pain to ensure that others follow. It is this hierarchy system that is commonly presented in demon worlds — respect is brought on by power. When a demon shows weakness they are cut off from the pack, hung out to dry, or instantly killed.

When Rui witnesses a genuine bond between Tanjiro and Nezuko, he still has trouble grasping why simply stealing her from Tanjiro would be considered illogical. Demons respect power and fear those stronger than themselves, it is the natural order. However, unlike normal demons, Nezuko has the hypnotic seal which prevents her from tapping into that demonic nature. Rui may not fully grasp the concept of family, by human standards, but he was able to recreate one by demon’s standards, quite flawlessly. The pretend family dynamics promoted the idea of unflinching loyalty which is naturally created in a loving family dynamic.

And as he died, he still longed for that idea. In truth, he was really misunderstood. He was so consumed by the hate and anger that was controlling him, that he had no idea what he was doing, missing his family. He did the “pretend family" but it wasn’t how he wanted it to be. It just was not enough. He really isn’t evil at all, Rui is actually a sweet and loving frail child when he was human. Muzan allowed him to become stronger, but the worst part was when his mother apologized to him for not giving him a strong and healthy body before she died.

Rui might go down as the greatest Hufflepuff villain in the entire series. In fact, He’s the only evil demon to be sorted into Hufflepuff.

12. Muzan Kibutsuji: Slytherin

The most extreme type of Slytherins can go completely diabolical like Voldemort did, with Muzan Kibutsuji coming across the same lines. Muzan is as evil as demons come. A demon so evil, he could give Lord Voldemort a run for his Galleons or they could end up becoming friends. In fact, he is the OG Demon. His vanity and egotism were such that he found pleasure in ruining the lives of millions over 10,000 years, including Tanjiro Kamado.

He’s cold-hearted, ambitious, efficient, mysterious, cunning, sly, ruthless, intimidating, shrewd, self-preserving, manipulative, and exceptionally intelligent. He sees no value in any humans he has encountered and shows little value in his subordinates. Known for being a ruthless ruler, he’s rarely ever visually upset or happy, he appears completely monotone and detached on most occasions, even when he callously murders his subordinates. The only times he ever shows emotion is when his vision of perfection is moving forward or when he has subordinates completely submit to his will. He has shown to be fairly manipulative and cunning, being able to blend in with human society normally, even having a family of his own to add. He’s not just cruel to humans but also to his demon minions as he constantly tortures, belittles, and makes them compete with one another. That goes to show what someone can do if they’re allowed to do anything they want.

Immortality and continued practice have allowed him to take on many roles in society and play them capably, including women and children should he choose to. This life has also given him great intelligence and the ability to think tactically. Muzan is a quick-thinker and strategist who can deal with unfavorable situations rapidly and quite well, though this may also be because the loss of his subordinates means nothing to him in the long run. Defeat is not something Muzan is familiar with, and when he’s directly involved in a plot, you can be sure that one of his subordinates is. Slytherins never admit defeat, with Muzan remaining defiant till the end.

13. Kagaya Ubuyashiki: Ravenclaw

Kagaya Ubuyashiki is the calm, soft-spoken, and mysterious leader of the Demon Slayer Corps, the patriarch of the Ubuyashiki family, and he is also a Ravenclaw. In addition to his voice, Kagaya (and the rest of the Ubuyashiki family) possess a heightened level of instinct, intelligence, and intuition that helps them avoid disastrous situations and amassed a great amount of wealth and fortune. Unlike Muzan Kibutsuji, Kagaya cares deeply for the members of the Demon Slayer Corps and thinks of all of them as part of his own family, because of this, he is more respected than loved by the members of the Demon Slayer Corps and he’s seen as a benevolent father figure. He is also incredibly tactful and soothing, putting other people at ease almost instantly with his soft-toned and gentle voice. Yet even though he’s kind, he naturally receives respect from others due to his dedication, intellect, and reason. He’s the polar opposite of Muzan Kibutsuji, and his diplomacy skills aid him greatly when resolving conflicts within the Corps. Kagaya is so fair-minded, as soon as he heard Nezuko refuse to drink human blood he deemed her not a threat.

14. Enmu (Lower Moon #1): Ravenclaw

Ravenclaws, including myself, can sometimes be so focused on their intellectual abilities that they become detached from their emotions. They often miss obvious solutions and prefer to create complex plans that account for every possible contingency. However, they may end up failing because they overlook the simplest solution that they should have considered in the first place.

Enmu is the Lower Rank #1 of the Twelve Kizuki. He is known for being sadistic, cruel, cunning, manipulative, and deriving pleasure from the pain of others. However, he is also intelligent, clever, innovative, cautious, calculating, and persuasive. Despite his qualities, Enmu does not belong to Slytherin. He is a Ravenclaw, where he can use his intelligence and wit. His ultimate goal was to fuse himself with the Mugen Train and kill all 200 passengers on board to impress Muzan, the most powerful demon in the series. In terms of intelligence, Enmu is definitely smarter than Muzan. He had a well-planned strategy in place, and everything went according to his plan. If Tanjiro did not wake up in time, Enmu would have won.

On the other hand, Muzan doesn’t have a plan and he’s a powerful leader and he gets the job done. He also seems to have become overconfident, arrogant, and greedy, as seen when he began to act more recklessly to obtain more blood from Muzan to properly challenge one of the Upper Ranks to a blood duel to take their place. Ravenclaws are not very good at positions of power and can let go of morality, such as Quirinius Quirrell and Gilderoy Lockhart. Enmu had total control of the Mugen Train and he became too smart for his own good. Ravenclaws are also known for underestimating the intellect of others, and he didn’t account for Tanjiro’s quickness of wit which ultimately led to his downfall. Another contributor to his massively spectacular failure was his hubris and selfishness. He’s probably the most unsettling and disturbing villain in the entire series and that is why I love him.

15. Akaza (Upper Moon #3): Gryffindor

Akaza would most likely fall straight into Gryffindor. Although many Demon Slayers fall into this house, many stuck-up, overly cocky characters do as well. Cormac McLaggen instantly comes to mind. Akaza is one such person.

He is strong, brash, bold, stubborn, blunt, uncompromising, tenacious, and impulsive and he enjoys fighting, especially strong Demon Slayers. A staunch Social Darwinist, he looked down on anybody he deemed weak but genuinely respected those who were strong in his eyes, regardless of their race. Once he met someone he deems strong, he demanded to know their name, and would not stop until he finds out; he remembers all the names he’s committed to memory as a tribute to their strength. Akaza believes strongly in Social Darwinism, believing that the law of nature dictates that all weaklings shall be eliminated. Another honorable thing about Akaza is that he refuses to attack women, due to his past. He may be the first demon on our list to be sorted into Gryffindor but he certainly won’t be the last.

16. Sabito: Gryffindor

Sabito, Tanjiro’s brief mentor, is focused and determined. He’s a leader who believes in himself, first and foremost, but is willing to help others and, even if he can be harsh with them, he actually cares for them and wants them to succeed. He does whatever it takes to help Tanjiro hone his strengths as a demon slayer. Like his mentor Urokodaki, Sabito knows that tough love is often the way to lift people to their highest potential.

While he might seem harsh and demeaning at the beginning of the series, his gentle smile reveals a softer, more sensitive side when his mask is removed. He’s quick to forgive himself for past mistakes, but he can become impulsive if he gets emotional. According to Giyu, Sabito was a very kind boy with a strong sense of justice back when he was still alive. In the manga, you can see that he gave up his own life to save the other students from the hand demon. A true hero and a true Gryffindor.

17. Makomo: Hufflepuff

Gentle and insightful, Makomo teaches Tanjiro how to correct his sword-fighting techniques as a demon slayer. Tanjiro quickly notices that Makomo tends to speak abstractly and dreamily. She tends to be patient, tolerant, kind, and unhurried, contrasting Sabito’s harsh, more impatient manner of teaching. Makomo’s devoted, empathetic nature and reserved, imaginative way of expressing herself make me think Hufflepuff is the right Hogwarts House for her.

18. Susamaru: Gryffindor

Yes, that’s right. Susamaru is the other Gryffindor demon. Even though she is a villain, she is not a Slytherin. Both before and after her transition to a demon, she has always been thrilled by excitement, action, and fun. She thirsts for a challenge, and even before becoming a demon was a skilled handball player. And she always has a smile on her face. Beneath her vicious demon exterior is a young girl who simply wants to have fun and test her abilities. She’s competitive, immersive with the environment, and loves physical activity that lets her respond to surprise incoming stimuli (like a punch being suddenly thrown out of nowhere). Gryffindors are known for being very competitive and playful. Susamaru is an excellent example of this.

19. Aoi Kanzaki: Gryffindor

One of the lesser-known but intensely liked characters was Aoi Kanzaki. This hot-headed young girl who worked at the Butterfly Mansion as a helper managed to make an instant mark among the fans of the Demon Slayer anime. As Aoi trained Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke, she was very tough on them and often pushes them to their limits. She has a firm personality, unlike her colleagues at the Butterfly Mansion. Aoi’s personality is somewhat similar to that of a younger Shinobu Kocho, volatile and open. She often appears angry, generally displaying how she feels very clearly. However, she does occasionally express more tender emotions such as declaring her enjoyment of the time spent with the trio when they were at the Mansion, looking openly surprised at Tanjiro’s reassurance towards her, and bursting into tears when discussing Inosuke’s serious injuries. Despite her somewhat gruff demeanor, she is internally kind and caring, doing her best to help the hunters that come to the Mansion. She’s not a Ravenclaw or a Hufflepuff, but more of a Gryffindor.

20. Daki (Upper Moon #6): Slytherin

Daki is the Upper Moon #6. She is known to be prideful, vain, cunning, seductive, hateful, ambitious, sadistic, and cruel. She takes pleasure in tormenting her victims before ultimately ending their suffering. Daki is intolerant of failure and quarreled with her brother during their final moments, shouting that he did not deserve to be her brother. She is arrogant and looks down on demon slayers who are not Hashira. Daki can be considered more evil than Gyutaro since she was raised to be selfish and only care for herself. As a result, she caused more trouble for humans than her brother did. Daki is a Slytherin.

Daki ruled over the Entertainment District with an iron fist, using fear as her main weapon. She would kill any courtesan or civilian who would dare expose her as a demon on a whim or due to a mere tantrum. She even mistreated her brother, calling him ugly and disowning him despite being too reliant on him. Due to being transformed when she was only thirteen years old, Daki possesses a childish streak, tending to throw tantrums when things don't go her way. However, deep down, she deeply cares about her brother and is grateful for his protective attitude even after their tragedy and transformation. After her death, Daki reconciled with Gyutaro in the afterlife, likely inspired by Tanjiro's exhortation and remembering her experience. Ironically, as a human, she was a very kind, sweet, and honest girl but could be easily convinced. Her brother's experience and his cynical view of the world became a vital point of influence in shaping her personality. Their personalities and lives mirror and contrast those of Tanjiro and Nezuko.

BONUS: 21. Douma (Upper Moon #2): Ravenclaw

Doma is clinically apathetic, completely incapable of feeling human emotion. He covers his emotionlessness with a carefree and friendly facade that was able to trick all but the keenest observers, adopting sick beliefs and habits like ruthlessly and happily murdering and devouring his cult’s followers and young women under the belief that he is saving them from their suffering by letting them “live” inside his body. Basically, he brainwashed his followers into letting him eat them. Under his carefree and unassuming demeanor, Douma is a cold and calculating individual that possesses an extremely keen intellect.

A staunch atheist, he believes that gods and Buddha does not exist. He’s manipulative, cunning, sly, slippery, deceptive, charismatic, smart, clever, ruthless, delusional, and nihilistic. All the makings of an evil cult leader. All in all, he’s a fundamentally evil person. Probably even eviler than Muzan. Someone with a life like that must have zero reasons or pull toward being evil. This man is so evil, that he’s absolutely despised by everyone; the Upper Moons, The Hashira, The Demon Slayer Corps, and even his own boss, Muzan Kibutsuji.

He might be the only member of the 12 Kizuki who has lost his sense of humanity and is capable of transcending to a level of evil like Muzan where he escapes death and decapitation. Akaza finds Doma’s indiscriminate killing of humans distasteful since the former prefers to kill and eat combatants. He admits that even during his human days, the entire concept of emotion itself was alien to him. He has a cynical view of the world and has his own grotesque ideal reality. And Douma believes that his evil deeds are truly “save”, as Douma’s parent’s wrong upbringing has truly broken his brain. He rarely acts anything but relaxed and serene which highlights how disturbing he actually is. Even as a human, when his mother violently murdered his father before killing herself, his only priority was airing the room out from the stench of blood emitted by his dead parents. His complete lack of feeling and emotion stayed true until the very end when his diabolical crimes ultimately caught up with him. I really wanted to put him in Slytherin but I’m going to go with my gut here and sort him into Ravenclaw.

Bonus Sortings:

  1. Yahaba: Slytherin- While Yahaba was very loyal and served to only please his master, he was very sadistic and cunning. So it’s Slytherin for this demon.
  2. Spider Demon Older Daughter: Ravenclaw- Of all the Spider Demons, she was the most cautious, she preferred to observe rather than participate rather than jump right into the fight.
  3. Kaigaku: Slytherin- I hate this asshole so much. He’s a coward and a sellout and he only became a demon to save his own skin. He’s hypocritical and self-righteous and he’s become the biggest traitor to the DSC since Kokushibo. So, for that, I’m putting him in Slytherin.
  4. Sumi, Kiyo, and Naho: All in Hufflepuff- These three little girls are so bright, cheerful, and adorable, that I’m putting them all in Hufflepuff. Though they might be a little too young to be sorted.
  5. Kyogai: Ravenclaw- As a human, Kyogai was an intellectual and he enjoyed writing. The only thing he ever wanted was to have his talents recognized. When Tanjiro finally acknowledged his amazing Blood Demon Art, it finally made him happy and his soul could finally rest in peace. He’s not necessarily evil, so I’m putting him into Ravenclaw.
  6. Haganezuka: Gryffindor- Since this guy kept working on a sword while he was being attacked by a demon, Hagenezuka is a total Gryffindor. He’s a very hot-blooded man and he loves swords so much, that he could yak on and on about them for long periods.
  7. Murata: Hufflepuff- Damn it!
  8. Ruka Rengoku: Kyojuro's mother, Ruka Rengoku, is portrayed as a wise, philosophical, and gentle woman in contrast to her husband's personality. She has strong moral values and teaches Kyojuro that his life is important and he should use his strength to protect the weak and helpless people in the world. Kyojuro's father believes that their two sons have inherited their wonderful personalities mainly because of Ruka's influence. She belongs to the Ravenclaw house.
  9. Nakime: Ravenclaw- Honestly, of all the Twelve Kizuki, Nakime is the least evil. She didn’t speak unless necessary and, when she did, she was always straightforward and blunt, making her responses as short as possible. She’s pretty smart, too. Definitely a Ravenclaw.
  10. Makio: Gryffindor- She’s very bold and confident. In terms of that, she can be compared to Inosuke which also allows her to charge headstrong into battle. This unwavering personality is the core of her character. She’s also impatient and can rarely remain calm and can get quite irritated at times. And she’s also very brave and courageous. So…Makio is a Gryffindor.
  11. Hinatsuru: Ravenclaw- Similar to Tanjiro Kamado, Hinatsuru is very calm, patient, and kind. Additionally, she is strategic, intelligent, and fearless during battle situations and she’s an excellent spy. So, I’m putting her in Ravenclaw.
  12. Suma: Hufflepuff- Often regarded as the female version of Zenitsu Agatsuma, expresses overdramatic and exaggerated emotions in practically every situation she’s in along with giving off a fearful and unconfident attitude when it comes to dangerous situations, as well as a tendency to cry which is seen when she bursts into tears. But when it comes to matters of the heart, Suma is equally as sensitive. Suma is a total Hufflepuff.
  13. Spider Demon Mother: Slytherin- Pass!
  14. Tanjuro Kamado: Gryffindor- Ah, come on! Beheaded a giant fucking bear while being completely frail and not showing any fear? Absolutely, without a doubt, a Gryffindor!
  15. Hantengu: Slytherin- Super annoying character, but he’s also very underrated. In life, he was a conniving and cunning thief and killer. But he’s also a coward. Hantengu also seems to believe he is completely innocent despite the obvious evidence pointing toward his numerous crimes as a human. Also, he’s kinda delusional. He had a habit of deflecting the blame towards anything but himself, even proclaiming at one point that his hands were guilty but not himself as a whole. Even as a demon, killing and eating scores of innocent people, he stubbornly and delusionally maintained that he was innocent. Definitely a Slytherin.
  16. Kokushibo: Slytherin — Kokushibo’s twisted hatred and jealousy for his brother solidify him as one of the series’ most evil characters. He only became a demon to surpass his brother Yoriichi, who died midway through confronting his demonic brother. Enraged by never being able to surpass Yoriichi, Kokushibo defiled his brother’s body. In the process, a certain object’s presence reveals that his brother still cared for him and emphasized just how evil Kokushibo truly was. Also a Slytherin.
  17. Gyokko: Slytherin - Gyokko is short-tempered, shallow, and arrogant, especially when it comes to things regarding his “art”, as seen when he was easily enraged by Muichiro when he began to insult and make fun of the quality of his art and through his conversation with the Hashira, constantly praised himself as “beautiful” and his work even more so, further reinforcing his arrogant and narcissistic personality. But he also has some really interesting hobbies: he loves art and sculptures. The manner in which he stuffed his victims into pots to turn them into his grotesque definition of art is evil and makes him one of the evilest characters in the series by a country mile. Also a Slytherin.
